Rosario Daza Serrano, Associate

Rosario Daza Serrano joined GHP in November 2023, after nearly 15 years of working in immigration law, at non-profits, and in appellate courts. Rosario co-founded the Washington Immigration Defense Group, where she litigated cases in the immigration courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and Washington state courts. She is passionate about assisting immigrants seeking humanitarian and post-conviction relief.

Fluent in Spanish, Rosario was a staff attorney at the Washington Defender Association (WDA), Northwest Justice Project (NJP), and Disability Rights Washington (DRW). As an immigration resource attorney at WDA, she worked with public defenders, community partners, and directly impacted people to respond to emergent “crimmigration” issues and advance systems advocacy. At NJP, Rosario represented sexual abuse survivors in family law and immigration matters. At DRW, she provided technical assistance to constituents with disabilities and their defense counsel. Rosario is a member of the Washington Supreme Court Minority and Justice Commission and the Keep Washington Working Implementation Table.

Before graduating from the University of Washington School of Law, she was an award-winning journalist for eight years, and part of a team that was runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News. A native of Colombia, she enjoys camping and fishing with her family. Rosario got her sense of justice from her amazing single mom, Gloria, who passed away in 2022.
